Credits & licensing
ScriptureCaster displays Scripture. It does not own any of it. This page says exactly whose work is in the software and on what terms.
The software
ScriptureCaster is free to download and free to use, for any church, with no limit on screens, translations or congregation size. Pass it on to another church freely — please do.
It is not open source. The program may not be modified, decompiled, reverse engineered or republished under another name. Two reasons, and the second is the serious one: a project that forks in ten directions stops being something a volunteer can be handed on a Sunday morning, and where a publisher licenses their translation for use in the software, that text is not ours to expose. Keeping the program closed is part of how it is kept safe. If it is missing something your church needs, ask — that is how almost everything in it got built.

Translations you can add, free
Downloaded on request from within the app. Each keeps its own copyright line, which is stored with the text and shown here on your own installation.

The catalogue itself is maintained by eBible.org, whose work makes free Scripture distribution possible for projects like this one. Around 1,294 of its translations are marked freely redistributable; only those are ever downloaded.
How a publisher's text is treated
If a Bible society or publisher licenses a translation to ScriptureCaster, this is what they get:
- Attribution on screen. The translation's name appears in the app, and its full copyright line in Settings and on this page.
- No export. Licensed texts cannot be copied out, printed, or saved from the application. There is no "export all" and no clipboard path.
- Encrypted at rest. The text is stored in an encrypted module rather than a readable file — AES-256-GCM, decrypted a chapter at a time in memory, never written back to disk.
- Display only. A verse at a time, on a screen, in a service. Nothing is transmitted anywhere, and the software has no cloud component.
- Removable. If permission is withdrawn, the text is removed from the next release and can be revoked from existing installations.
We are honest about the limits of this: software that can display a text on an operator's own machine can never make that text absolutely unextractable, and no Bible program in the world manages it. What the encryption does is make casual copying impossible and deliberate copying a breach of the agreement rather than an accident.
What is deliberately not included
NKJV, ESV, NASB and the revised Romanian editions are under active copyright and are not available under any free licence. They are not in ScriptureCaster, and they will not be added by converting a file from another program — that would be someone else's licence, not ours.
Where a church needs a modern English text today, theBerean Standard Bible is public domain, modern and formally equivalent, and it is what we recommend.
